Lighting Lesson - Notes and general overview.

We had a lesson that was purely focusing on lighting, I felt that this was beneficial to us as individuals and as a group as we now have a few more approaches to lighting our scene, for example, we are now aware of how we can exploit the focus mode on the camera to make certain parts of the shot in focus, such as a singer or actor, and make parts of the shot, such as the background, quite blurry which exaggerates how clearly we see the person/thing that is in focus.

We also learnt to use light filters, which creates that really nice "beam" effect on the lights in the shot, which is used even on Hollywood sets! We found a way to make free light filters without the outrageous cost, just simply cut up some card in a certain way (which had yet to be decided) and place it over the camera lens! As soon as my group & I saw this, we simultaneously came to the conclusion that we will be using these for the morning/opening shots to show the morning sunlight shining through the curtains onto the persons' face.

This lesson definitely proved a great help to me and my group as we are aware that every group is heavily marked on their use of lighting and techniques and I think that we can definitely make a better quality production now knowing the techniques from that video.
