Star Persona

The star persona we decided on was not one that relates directly to the theme of binge drinking and partying in our chosen song, but rather a modern middle class youth culture. For this reason, we want to imply in our magazine add and Digipack cover that this would not be the overall theme of our assumed product. We want images of things that represent adolescence and communicate transitions into maturity and adulthood, as well as keeping the look of our ideas trendy and in many ways modest.

Our intended look is one that is basically stylish but not OTT in any one area, we want to create a sense that a lead singer is in many ways just a normal teenager who'll occasionally throw a party.
This look is to be achieved by wearing everyday clothing, such as jeans, T-shirt, jacket and trainers etc.

star persona First ideas

star persona
Our star persona will be based on a mix of materialism and down to earth everyday modern fashion. He will wear clothes that would be seen in high street shops. His looks will match that of the idea of a 'hipster' and this will become part of his image and how you should view him as a star. The genre will effect his star persona the indie rock pop genre he will mirror other stars like those from the band Jet and the Arctic Monkeys. The record label will have its influence this will show in the way that you look and associate with the star this will involve a lot of close ups of the star throughout the video and on the promo of the star on a old bike in front of a cambridge college. This will help associate the star because he will be seen in his local environment and in a personal choice of transport his vintage bike is a non conventional and more personal taste in bikes. The lead singer of the killers will be used as a model to base our star on this is because his band has a similar feel to our 'band'.

Mise-en-scene ideas

For the Mise-en-scene aspect of our video, we thought of a variety of ideas.

Lighting:

We had the idea that the main character should be woken up by rays of the morning sun shining through the curtains onto his face. We would need to position the lighting carefully to get this desired effect.
We all feel that we're going to need to rely on lighting a lot more with Music Video, than we did with our Thriller, as we cannot rely on the sun to shine in the desired location at the time we need, therefore, we will have to create our own light source using the lighting we have been given.

Camerawork:

We thought that for Camerawork, we're going to use both close-ups and long-shots with the intention of trying to use a contrast of shots in quick succession of each other, to portray the characters state of mind or general mood/feeling during a hangover.
The long-shots are going to be used to emphasise the surrounding mess and show how alone he is after the party, because everyone is either asleep or passed out.

Costume & Props:

We thought that for the costume, we should just be dressed as 'hipsters' which would include wearing as much as vintage clothing as possible.
The props will include empty beer bottles and cans and a Jack Daniel's bottle which will probably be featuring throughout our music video.

Song name and basic idea.

After we were given the list of songs for our Music Video, we quickly decided that we should use 'Orson - Ain't No Party'.
Our reasoning for this is, as the song is quite happy, upbeat and generally about having a good time, we came to the conclusion that our music video for it would therefore have a lot of flexibility in terms of how to approach the music video.

Our initial idea, was to have a guy who woke up in a room in someones house, with trash everywhere, empty  beer bottles and a few people sleeping (or passed out) somewhere around the house.
As the main person walks around and finds his friends, he has a flash back to where we relive the events of last night, and we find out how they got there and what happened to them.
